Yesterday I checked the oil and antifreeze levels and tire pressure. I also did most of the packing of the truck. Today was a travel day. Did some final packing and took off.

Jim (see the posts of April 28 & 29) and I walked the property a couple of times and we both decided on acceptable locations for the four corners. As it turned out, two of the corners had already been marked by an adjacent property owner (see the photos). Since he marked those and since they are acceptable to me, I'm not going to argue with him. I've been told the first one to put up his fence is "in the right". Of course, anything can be contested in a court of law, but will it be worth it? In my case, the answer is no.
For those two corners, the only thing I have to decide is will I be putting up my own corner posts a couple of feet away from his posts (to keep peace with my neighbor) or will I be attaching my barbed wire directly to his posts? To do that, I'll have to contact him and see if he would be okay with it. I'll hope for the best.
Later today it rained a bit, but fortunately for me it didn't rain very hard or for very long because the tent I'm using is at best a two season tent and it definitely isn't waterproof.

8:30am - The handyman I had planned on using to set my corner posts called and said he wasn't going to make it today. ...

Since the handyman didn't contact me yesterday, I texted him twice and called him once, but never did get a response. I was thinking of leaving tomorrow, but since I got some tree trimming done yestserday, I thought why not stay another day or two and get some more done. It looks like I will have to find another person to help with installing the load bearing corner posts.
I trimmed the trees on the side road (the road where I will be placing the entrance to the property) to "pretty up" the property and to make it easier for those who grade the roads to do their jobs.

Today I concentrated on trimming the trees along the side of the property parallel to the main road. I started at the corner near the side road.
I continued trimming until I got to a point where I wasn't sure exactly the path the fence would take. I didn't want to trim trees that didn't need trimming. So I stopped and did some more detailed work on marking the property boundary lines.
The first four of today's pictures shows some of the branches I piled up while trimming the various trees and bushes.
I located the midpoint (151 feet) on the longer sides of the property (302 feet). This way, it will be easier to ensure there will be a straight line between corners. It would be much easier if this was a vacant lot, but there are quite a few trees "in the way". That is what I wanted when I purchased this property over the others I rejected (because they were essentially vacant lots), but it does make the task of setting a straight line for the fence that much more difficult.
The last of today's pictures shows two stakes. I set the one of the right using the GPS coordinates I found on the county's website. I think that location must not take into account easements, because it is different from the one on the left. I set that one by measuring 302 feet from the point where my neighbor placed his corner post. That is the only corner with what I feel is an "official" surveyor's location marker. Right now I'm not sure if I will place the load bearing corner post exactly where the left stake is or (more likely) simply use the huge tree as the "load bearing corner post". I wouldn't think the county will be uprooting that tree anytime soon.

Travel day. I did a very minimal amount of packing last night, so I got up early this morning and did the bulk of the packing before hitting the road.
I hope to take some drone videos during my next trip. I'm going to need those to determine where I want to place the RV and shipping container/storage unit.
I've got to get all the fencing and entrance gate in place during my next trip, but that will take some planning and coordinating with the right people to get it all done in one visit.
