It snowed last night! I wasn't mentally prepared for it. It wasn't much (more of a dusting than a real snowfall) but hey! It wasn't in the forecast.
Mostly because I wasn't expecting it and partly because the days are so much shorter now, last night I didn't take the time to try to set up the propane heater I brought. All I could think of was getting into what I thought would be my warm sleeping bag. I'll DEFINITELY set up the propane heater tonight! I brought a CO monitor, just in case. Even though the manufacturer states right on the box "Indoor safe", it never hurts to take precautions. It has a "Press to Test" button, so I knew it was in working order, but fortunately it never went off.
As the night got colder, I put on a balaclava, fleece anorak and a blanket over the sleeping bag. Doable, but not fun.
After the sun rose a bit higher and the temps got a bit more tolerable, I went into town to pick up the barbed wire and metal fence posts I ordered online before leaving home. Then, I was more optimistic about how much I would be able to get done on this trip. If I had known then what I found out last night and this morning, I wouldn't have ordered those items. I may just put stakes in the four corners of the property and call it a successful trip, then wait until March or so for a return visit.
